Kids These Days…

I saw one of the most bizarre things last night: I saw a young girl – probably 11 or 12 – making a call… using her iPod Touch!

I’ve known this was a technically feasible thing to do ever since Apple started building microphones into the iPod Touch, and occasionally I hear about some member of the “technorati” foregoing a smartphone (and the accompanying data plan) for an iPod Touch, the Skype app, and public Wi-Fi. I never thought I’d see a “normal” person using such a convoluted method to make calls, let alone a young kid! Is this a new trend? Are parents buying iPods instead of iPhones for their smartphone-craving kids?
