I Thought I Was Done With School

Yesterday was CBEST Exam Day, and I’m happy to report that it’s officially behind me. I’ve been stressing about this exam for the last month, worrying (primarily) that I would completely flunk it because I’m so terrible at math. As it turned out, neither the test nor my mathematical aptitude were as bad as I imagined.

The questions on the math portion were all fairly basic, and I think I only guessed on one or two of the problems. Surprisingly, I had substantially more difficulty with the reading section. Crazy, I know! I’m also terrible at Scrabble, so I’m hardly the pinnacle of English majorness. In my defense though, English isn’t as cut and dry as math. That little bit of wiggle room makes answering multiple choice questions definitively much harder. n the whole though, the CBEST was more grueling than it was difficult. Spending four hours taking a test on a Saturday morning is incredibly draining. I pretty much collapsed on my bed and took a nap as soon as I got home.

Now it’s just a waiting game. In a couple weeks, I’ll get an email with my results. A passing score will mean a potential substitute teaching gig come Fall.

Fingers crossed!
